Florida budget a done deal

Final vote Monday will wrap up regular Legislative Session

TALLAHASSEE (by Rick Flagg/FLA. NEWS NETWORK) -- The Florida legislature has agreed on a new state budget and Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Jack Latvala is finally getting a break.

"Several members were taking advantage of the lull to ask me for things in the budget," Latvala said, "and I figured I wanted to save everybody their breath by telling the budget is being printed. So no need to ask me for anything else. We're done."

The budget may be done, but the legislature is not. There's a 3-day cooling off period before they vote on the $83 billion spending plan. The session ends at midnight tonight, so they'll have to approve an extension and come back to Tallahassee Monday for the final vote.
